Dani Pearce is a highly awarded Australian Writer, Screen Writer and Film Director.
Her work has been described as ambitious and inventive – ideologically ruminating most distinctly on womanhood, body politics and systems of power. Dani’s work has been described by IndieWire as being defined by “her stunning, signature style.”
Dani’s filmography includes NURSED BACK, BACKPEDAL and PLACES I GO.
This work has been recognised by and screened at the Sundance Film Festival, Cannes Lions, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney Opera House, Cannes Young Director’s Awards, the Saatchi&Saatchi New Director’s Showcase, AVIFF Cannes Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival, BAFTA Aesthetica Film Festival, Tribeca Video Art & Experimental Film Festival, Brisbane International Film Festival, Montreal Festival du Nouveau Cinema, Manchester Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, Flickerfest International Short Film Festival, Vimeo Staff Picks and countless more.
In 2023, she began a relationship with the Museum of Contemporary Art and Accessible Arts, subsequently Dani has mentored their emerging filmmaker living with disability program, ArtScreen, year to date. Too, Dani was the 2024 Writer in Residence at the Bundanon Trust Artist Residency.
Dani’s debut feature film BABY is being produced by GoodThing, her sophomore screenplay DESIRE PATH is in development and she is currently writing a limited series titled KINGS. Further, she is penning a collection of essays titled BODY OF WORK – set to be complete mid 2026.
Dani is particularly interested in media theory, contemporary art, feminist literature, the photographic medium and more generally - women’s work.
Dani is represented by HLA Management for long form projects. Further to this, Dani brings her singular vision to select commercial projects and is represented by Goodoil Films in Sydney. Dani has directed commercials for the Australian Government, NRMA, Toyota, Westpac, Allianz and many more.
